Hardman Family ~ Bozeman, MT Family Photographer

Despite a pretty gray day with the threat of rain hanging over our heads, the mini-sessions last weekend went without a hitch! Meet the third and final family of the day, the Hardmans! A very agreeable bunch, they did everything I asked them -- even climbed on these giant hay bales because, you know... you don't live in Montana if you don't play on hay bales now and then!

The kiddos are about the same age as mine, so I had no problem getting them to fall for my tricks (even though I forgot the treat part of my trick bag... Ooops!)

Keep an eye out in a few more weeks for another set of mini-sessions -- this time in a very cool location right in downtown Bozeman. I have a couple spots open still, so call now if you'd like to book a spot! Details on available packages can be found here (please note the date for the final sessions has changed from 11/2 to 11/22)

Nivens Family ~ Bozeman, MT Family Photographer

Another mini-session proofed! This next mini-session family was just so sweet. Little miss Jorja wasn't quite sure what to make of me (or the situation) at first, but we stuck with it!

The rare smiles were totally worth the work! What a beauty!

She was definitely happiest when she was up on her feet.

I promise she wasn't this solemn the whole time she was in this outfit. OK, maybe it was close... But I had to get this pettiskirt on someone other than my own daughters! I can't get enough of it :)

Thank you again for all your patience, Nivens Family! It was a pleasure meeting you, and I can't wait to show you all your proofs!

Johnson Family Mini-Session ~ Bozeman MT Family Photographer

Mini-Sessions are in full swing! This weekend I headed up to Springhill with the Johnson family and had a BLAST! Becca is the owner of Performance Kids -- the BEST class around for pre-schoolers (you should totally check it out if you have a 3- or 4-year old!) and her hubby, Ryan, is a physical therapist. Needless to say, the energy and excitement in this family is hard to keep up with! I've been trying to get Becca in front of the camera for almost two years now (well, I stole her one day last winter to play in the woods) and it was well worth the wait!

What a gorgeous family - and what a perfect place for their first professional family photos -- at the very spot they got married!

Enjoy your peek, Johnson Family! More to come very soon!

Baby Cooper is 9 months! ~ Bozeman, MT Baby Photographer

Baby Cooper is growing up! I can't get enough of this little guy - he's so flippin' happy, you can't help but smile when you see him!! If you haven't watched him grow with me, you should take the time to do it: see Newborn Cooper (and more newborn Cooper), 3-month Cooper, and 6-month Cooper. I cannot wait for 1-year-old Cooper!

All ready for Christmas ~ Bozeman, MT Children's Photographer

I decided at the last minute (i.e., the day these shirts arrived in the UPS truck from Chasing Fireflies) to take them out to my October mini-session location to give it a little trial run. The adorable pettiskirts came locally from LillyLu and OMG I couldn't get enough! Is there anything cuter than adorable little girls swimming in layers upon layers of chiffon? I think not!

Unfortunately, the trickss that work for other people's kids didn't even touch my own, so I mostly have images of them either running away from me, doing the exact opposite of what I asked, or simply not paying attention. Lucky for me, the not paying attention ones seemed to turn out the best :) Love my beautiful girls (although I am holding out hope for someone else to be able to get a picture of the two of them, together, looking at the camera.......)

I suppose since sitting nicely without strangling/pushing/fighting is not in the cards for a few more years, this will do :) Love my babies.

I'm looking forward to the "real" mini sessions this weekend!

Those crazy photographer's kids... ~ Bozeman MT Children Photographer

Figured I'd head out this morning to attempt some pictures before the beautiful leaves are all history. We've been so lucky to have a colorful fall this year, and I couldn't let it pass by! I have a plan in mind for when the snow falls, but threw together this morning's plan with a quick trip to Old Navy. Was hoping to be downtown about an hour earlier than I did, but whatever... it still worked. Sort of. Why is it that wrangling my own kids seems like so much more work than wrangling other peoples' kids?!

The bigger picture ~ Bozeman, MT Photographer

I generally snap some shots on the way to or from my sessions -- either to get an idea of light, or see how the camera sees things. I all too often forget to go back and look at these images since I get busy proofing clients' images right away. Well, I'm trying to make it a point to look at and enjoy these ones from now on!

Here are a few that I took a little bit of time with just now. Enjoy!

Baby Ella ~ Bozeman MT Newborn Photographer

Baby Ella's mommy warned me ahead of time that she's a very alert baby. Based on my experience, that word "alert" could have many different connotations. Lucky for me, this time it meant I was able to get lots and lots of images of her beautiful bright eyes. She is SO curious about everything going on in her little world, and didn't want to miss a beat!

More than half the images from our session look something like this with her gorgeous eyes totally wide open taking it all in:

However, with patience generally comes the beautiful sleepy baby shots that all new moms adore. Mmmmmmmmm.

I always love when Dads are eager to participate in photo sessions, especially ones with their newborn babies. There is something so pure, so simple, so amazing about seeing a brand new daddy with his little one. The love just poured out of this dad. Ella is one lucky little lady.
DSC_0302

These tender moments are so powerful at this stage of new parents' lives. Seeing them with their precious new bundle took me right back to when my oldest daughter was born and reminded me how special this kind of love is.

I can't wait to show you more images in your gallery! Your baby is beautiful, and I'm honored to have had the opportunity to spend this time with you all!

What's keeping me busy ~ Bozeman, MT Photographer

Three sessions in the past three days, and two more to come later this week. Phew!

Two very curious kiddos...

...with two very awesome parents.

One very protective older brother and very loving little sister...

And one ridiculously cute chubby-cheeked little guy whom I've had the pleasure of photographing even before he was out of his mama's belly!
