Seifert Family ~ Bozeman, MT Family Photographer

The Siefert family were the lucky recipients of a recent give-away of a free session at Chico Hot Springs. What a beautiful family, and a perfect evening for a little session!

My youngest daughter is 3 days older than their little one, so I knew darn well that the chances of good "look at the camera and smile" shots were mostly out of the question. I'm kinda glad about that since we got a lot like this - the kind that really tell a story and show the love between the family:

Lo and behold, we actually did get a beautiful "look at the camera and smile" from her, and she didn't even fall off the rock in the process :)

Gorgeous much?

I am so glad that I was able to do this for you guys -- you certainly deserve to have some pretty pictures hanging on your walls. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Baby Elizabeth ~ Bozeman, MT Baby Photographer

I have had the pleasure of photographing Elizabeth and her family a few times already, and each time I'm blown away by these beautiful girls. I'm so pleased that I get to spend some time with them every few months throughout Elizabeth's first year! I just can't stop looking at this face -- she's just the sweetest baby!

Baby Lillian ~ Bozeman, MT Newborn Photographer

I love photographing all people. I say that I specialize in people because that's my passion. If, however, I had my choice of what size people to photograph every day for the rest of my life, it would be these itty bitty ones that are so fresh and sweet and innocent... I just can't get enough of these newborn babies!

Meet Lillian, 12 days young. She was fast asleep in her mama's arms when I arrived, and stayed that way for a fair amount of our morning together.

Itty bitty baby smiles...

and great big baby yawns....

DSC_0063crop

...and wide awake taking-it-all-in baby faces make me melt. I love them all.

Daddy took charge of the baby while I was there so Mama could catch up on some reading. I loved watching this brand new family together. Mom and Dad worked so well together - they make an incredible team - and it's clear that this little one will grow up surrounded by so much love.

Even the pup has taken her in as part of his family - he's already protective over his little baby girl.

Congratulations on your gorgeous little girl, Mom and Dad! I look forward to seeing you all again someday soon!

Richards Family ~ Bozeman, MT Family Photographer

Do I ever mention that I love what I do? Because I do. I always have so much fun meeting people and getting to know them throughout the course of our photo session. This family was no exception -- the pride in their little guy just beams out of the parents, and although they requested mostly pictures of the baby by himself, I couldn't stop snapping shots of the three of them together.

Enjoy your preview, Richards family! I can't wait for you to see the rest! We sure made the best out of a super cloudy day!

Don't worry -- I have plenty of his gorgeous eyes, but I keep coming back to this one. I can't remember what he was looking at, but I'm intrigued by his curiosity. This age is so fun and exciting -- they pick up on things so quickly, and never let anything pass them by!

Dumas Family ~ Bozeman, MT Family Photographer

I just can't ever say enough how much I love doing what I do. It's always different, always challenging, and always beautiful.

DSC_0233

Often times when people learn I'm a photographer, they'll ask what I photograph. I tell them mainly kids, often families, and sometimes dogs. They usually ask why I would want to spend so much time photographing kids and dogs when I could just take pretty pictures of the scenery or stuff around me. Wouldn't that be so much easier? And the answer is because I don't feel the same kind of connection to the scenery around me as I do with people. I love to capture the connection between my subjects and allow those split second moments to live on forever. The mountains will always be there when I look out my window. They'll always be pretty. But this, this love at this moment, this connection in this place in time, would be gone if it weren't for me doing what I love to do.

I love that I can allow this moment to live on forever.

When I saw that this week's challenge on I Heart Faces was "vroom, vroom", of course I immediately knew I had to submit a shot from my recent session for Maranda of Hot Mama Handbags and Baby, the amazingly awesome '56 Thunderbird! So here it is. Love it.

The reason I do what I do {Bozeman, MT Children's Photographer}

I've discovered since I went into business taking pictures of other people's kids, my own sometimes don't get the attention with my camera that they used to. I'm sure they're OK with that, but it's nice to step back into it when they (and I) least expect it to remember the reason why I started doing this in the first place.

I love you, babies. Thank you for being my inspiration every day.

Darden Family ~ Bozeman, MT Family Photographer

Finally getting to my last Alaska session! Good things come to those who wait, right?!

The oldest girl is my oldest daughter's very first friend -- even before they were born they were commiserating in the womb :) That connection made this session so special to me, and I'm glad I was able to do it for you! Your girls are beautiful, and so full of life. Your incredible parenting really shines through in them!

Print or Canvas? {Bozeman, MT Photographer}

The same image (or collection of images in this case) can make very different statements depending on how it is displayed in your home. A canvas certainly seems like more of a commitment and investment at first, but once you see it and hang it on your wall (after all, it comes ready to hang - no need to go find that perfect frame that's going to end up costing the same amount in the long run!) I know you'll be happy with the choice you made.

Take for instance this collage of shots from a recent HS Senior session. I like the idea of storyboards so you can display more than one image and feeling in one spot on the wall. I put this collage together as a 16x24 - a nice size to really allow the smaller photos to stand out in addition to the big one.

As a canvas, the images really stand out at you and say something.

2in Gallery Wrap

A flat paper print with the same images. Somehow it just doesn't provide the same impact to me. Same gorgeous girl, same images, different feel.

16x24 storyboard web

Chew on that - and let me know if there are any images from your gallery you'd like to see converted into a gallery wrapped canvas to help make your decision for you!

Westbrook Family {Bozeman, MT Family Photographer}

I was just thrilled to do a photo session for the Westbrook family during my Alaska vacation last month. We had a great time - I was a little nervous since photography wasn't even a dream in my world when I lived in Anchorage and I couldn't think of a spot to do it, but it all worked out great! We had a great time running around at Kinkaid Park and letting the kids stay up late. (They totally deserved the late ice cream and 11:00 bed time as far as I'm concerned!)

DSC_0200

Dad, I'm afraid you're in trouble in about 10 years, but I guess you already knew that. She is just gorgeous!

DSC_0382

And little brother is just so sweet and fun! I loved all his inquisitive expressions.

DSC_0105

Can't have fun if you can't run!

DSC_0032

It's no wonder the kids are so adorable -- pretty easy to see where they get it from.

DSC_0089

After a long walk down to Cook Inlet (well, as close as we could get to the Inlet), the love between these two kiddos really shined. They're too sweet! I'm pretty sure this will be the next big addition to my studio. Love.
